Beginning Teachers' Network
Engaging in professional conversations with others in similar positions and on a similar journey provides provisionally certified teachers opportunities to explore their beliefs about children and their learning and to make their own decisions about teaching.
Engagement in this programme will support provisionally certified teachers to:
- question their own experiences and perspectives;
- think critically about their values and the assumptions we make
- in our everyday practice;
- hear and learn about alternative practices and perspectives;
- affirm their own ideas and approaches;
- have learning conversations;
- engage in critical reflection to support a progression of learning.
PROGRAMME DESIGN:
This is a six-month, professional support programme that includes termly cluster meetings to explore the code of professional responsibility and standards for the teaching profession focusing on specific areas of professional practice through reflection and discussion of in-centre experiences.
This programme does not replace your induction and mentoring programme, however, it offers another level of professional discussion to inform and support practice.
Cluster meetings will be held at Massey University, Palmerston North (room to be confirmed), on Wednesdays from 4.00 - 6.00 pm on:
8 November 2017
21 February 2018
