
Extended PLD for ECE in Nelson-Marlborough
Tātai Angitu e3@massey’s early years facilitation team have recently extended professional learning and development offerings to the Nelson / Marlborough region.
Massey facilitators Sally Roberts and Huinga Greenland-Jackson are delivering the Ministry of Education contract for Strengthening Early Learning Opportunities (SELO) for children, whānau, families and communities. This professional development programme is targeted at early childhood education providers and kōhanga reo that have low participation or need support in providing quality early learning. Keri Cheetham, Kaihautū Mātauranga Kōhungahunga , Early Childhood Education Leader says this new opportunity to extend into the Nelson region from the University base in Manawatu was initially challenging but is now showing great results. “Huinga and Sally have developed new relationships in Nelson and we are now seeing a positive shift for local whānau with associated quality outcomes for children”.
